Bachman-Turner Overdrive Returns with "60 Years Ago" and a 2025 Canadian Tour
Iconic rock band BACHMAN-TURNER OVERDRIVE (BTO) has unveiled its first new music in over 25 years with the single "60 Years Ago." The track is a heartfelt tribute to the thriving Winnipeg music scene of the 1960s, a creative hub that birthed some of rock’s most legendary songwriters. The release coincides with the launch of BTO’s "Back In Overdrive Tour 2025," a 22-date Canadian tour kicking off April 1 in Victoria, British Columbia. Joining BTO on the road are fellow Canadian rock staples APRIL WINE and HEADPINS, who will open the shows. Proceeds from "60 Years Ago" will support The Bridge To Nowhere charity ride, a collaboration between Brothers Of The Fork and Hockey Helps The Homeless.
Randy Bachman, the driving force behind BTO, shared the inspiration for the song: "As a thank-you to Winnipeg, the city that shaped us, I wrote '60 Years Ago.' It features my son Tal Bachman, my daughter-in-law KoKo Bachman, and me, with Fred Turner on vocals, plus an incredible guitar solo by Neil Young. This is our love letter to Winnipeg—a place where we came of age in the '60s, when its music scene was absolutely electric. It was the Liverpool of North America, bursting with talent. Everyone who experienced that era is buzzing about this song, and I hope it resonates with fans as much as it meant to us to make it."
Revived by Bachman in 2023, BTO—known for global smashes like "Takin' Care Of Business" and "You Ain’t Seen Nothin’ Yet"—has been touring through 2024 and now into 2025 with a refreshed lineup. "BTO is a family band again," Bachman enthused. "Tal Bachman on guitar, KoKo Bachman on drums, Lance Lapointe on bass, and Brent Knudsen on guitar—we’re sounding better than ever. We’re playing the hits and digging into deep cuts, and the fans are loving it. We can’t wait to hit Canada in April and May with this powerhouse crew. The BTO sound is BACK!"
The tour will also feature classics from THE GUESS WHO, the seminal rock band Bachman co-founded with Burton Cummings, weaving together his storied legacy. A towering figure in rock, Bachman’s career boasts over 120 gold and platinum awards, No. 1 hits in more than 20 countries, and over 40 million records sold. His songs have been covered by countless artists and featured in numerous TV shows, films, and commercials, cementing his influence across decades of popular music.
Beyond Canada, BTO has also lined up a U.S. tour, co-headlining with southern rock legends THE MARSHALL TUCKER BAND and featuring '70s/'80s favorites JEFFERSON STARSHIP as special guests. With a revitalized lineup and new music, BTO’s legacy continues to roar, promising electrifying shows and a lasting mark on rock’s evolving landscape.
